I played harmonica with Southern Culture On The Skids at their Great American Music Hall gig. I was down front in the audience, and at the start of the song "Daddy Was A Preacher But Mama Was A Go-Go Girl" frontman Rick Miller glanced in my direction, I waved my harp at him and he nodded his head, so I ran up onstage. He gave me his mic and played rhythm behind me, and I soloed the whole song while Mary Huff sang. Friends of mine in the audience and said the band seemed to dig my playing, and I chatted with Rick and Mary after the show and they were hella cool.

I also played harp with the fabulous Rosie Flores at The Riptide. I was talking to her between sets and she asked if I was a musician. When I said I played harmonica, she asked if I had them with me, and when I said I did, she asked me to sit in during her next set. We played "Not Fade Away" and a couple of others and it was a blast. She rocks hard. She played the entire gig with just five strings because she had busted the tuning peg on her high E.
